I think it's a difference between people who enjoy photography looking to start a legitimate business and those who think "hey, I can take good pictures of my cat and I heard that wedding photographers make $500 for one day's work".
Personally, I'm just short of 3 years since I got paid for photography by someone that didn't come through friends or family. And I got pretty excited last night when I put together my info for our accountant that I actually was in the black last year, although just barely. I think that gives me a pretty good latch onto his #7 - "you really want to do it."

Of course I also really really want to take a trip to Europe next summer. Doesn't mean it's going to happen. The hardest part for me is to convert that desire to do photography and web design full time into motivation to actually take the steps to make it happen.
Two quotes along those lines that I keep taped to my monitor. No clue on who said them though.
"The principle behind weekly planning is to schedule your priorities, not to prioritize your schedule."
"The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that that they trade what they want most for what they want most at the moment."
