Time for a little topic redirect...
I just don't know if they all justify the expense
Have you ever priced out indemnity insurance to cover you in case of a lawsuit? This is a very important concern in today's sue-happy world. You can join the PPA and have their member's indemnity insurance coverage for about $30/year more than the insurance alone would cost you. Plus one of the best and most informative professional photography magazines published, plus discounts on royalty-free music, plus discounts on workshops (very educational), plus a business report every year, plus discounts on various products, plus... Basically there are plenty of other reasons to justify the additional $30/year that wasn't made up in just the value of the insurance.
Justifiable to me at least.
Travis, I know there are benefits. I also know the price of indemnity insurance. You make great and valid points. For some reason I get one of the magazines, and have been for over a year, I will have to look it might be the WPPI one, actually. Maybe I shouldn't have said that, knock on wood, they are going to realize their mistake and stop sending them, lol.
The rest of the stuff, is just stuff. Things I don't know if I will use. I honestly should try it out, I don't believe in knocking things unless you try them.
I am just grumpy because everybody seems to want my money lately (it's that time of year when the phone books start selling advertising space, etc).
