Bear with Stick

Captive bear at a rescue facility.

...animals have no sense of play. Nope. None at all. Tongue

Haha. He'd throw the stick in the air, it would land in the water, he'd pounce after it, stick his head under water to find it, pop back out, sit on his haunches and play with it and then throw it back into the air. It was hilarious to watch and was a moment of pure joy that I'll remember forever.

I like the line of drool attached to the stick in the second attached photo. Grin

I agree about the 'animals playing' comment.  I once watched a herd of elk running back and forth through a small pond.  It looked like they were just trying to splash each other.  There were probably 6-8 of them and they would just run through it, turn around and run through it again.  They did this for 10 minutes or so.  It was amazing to say the least.  I was actually scouting for elk at the time and I watched them through binoculars from about 800 yards away.  Animals are different when they aren't worried about people around, but because of the nature of things, it's hard for people to see them that way.  I know you said this bear was captive, so it's probably used to people, but I think they do the same thing in the wild when none of us are around to see it.  Thanks for sharing these.  They are great moments.

These are fun.  I haven't seen many bears in my life, just a couple in our local crappy zoo.  When I go to this zoo I end up feeling miserable, it's awful.

I would imagine that bears are playful though, they seem like they would be.
