down here they are so common we tend to forget how beautiful they are.

They are relatively common around here as well. Not nearly as much as the population in some areas of the country, but they are certainly not difficult to find if you want to see them. I have just always had a fascination with them, so I never really lost the little bit of excitement I feel when I see or hear them nearby. I actually saw a lot of them on this outing, but not very many that were close enough for great photos.
