Car and Castle

Pages [1] 2
Ok, this is my first image upload.

The first one is a 1978 Chevy Camaro. The second was taken inside a mansion named "Igor's Castle."

Thoughts?

Sorry, I can't figure out how to get the second one to show up...

For the second one, do a reply to your posting.

Unfortunately, you had a lot going against you, lens flaring, background distraction, and whiteout over top.

Location, location, would be nice to see the full view.

Good effort, keep trying.

another thing if you had backed up a couple of feet you would have the car's logo in the frame. (car guys like that)

The big thing is don't shoot in open sun when your shadow is short.

Good try though. Nice car too [grin]

Not specific to the image, but I like how you put in your name like it was written onto the concrete instead of just sticking it on top.

It's a bug in the theme that I haven't been able to track down that causes only the first attachment to attach.  You can go back and edit the post and add another attachment or do like Mike suggested and attach it to a reply.  Or, I could just get it together and fix the bug.  Yeah, I think I'll go with that one Cheesy Grin

Lauren I really hope you don't mind that I played with it a bit in photoshop.  If you do I can take it down Smiley

I actually like the angle, although I agree with Bob, get that logo in if you can.  The location actually bothered me.  It just appeared to be a super cool car in a normal suburban neighborhood.

I saturated, added a color cast, diffused glow, some contrast, and airbrushed with a bit of white.  I am sorry, my edits took out your signature, it would have to be added back on.

OH and I like the lens flare, it's a car in the sun - cool.  I tried to play up the flare a bit, but I didn't have a lot of luck.

I'm going to try to reply to everyone's comments here.

First of all, Thanks! Great points!
I do realize that the location just flat out sucked. It was taken in my front yard, it was a spur of the moment shot, I need to actually take the car somewhere and get a decent background.
I did try to photoshop the sun spot out at one point, with the help of one of my PS teachers, but neither one of us could get it to look normal, so I decided that it was better to just leave it in. It's kind of grown on me, and now I like the way it looks, although I can see why some have good reason to disagree.
Susie: I love what you did to it in Photoshop! It looks amazing and got rid of the background!
And I'm not really sure which of the logos you wanted to see...It has the Chevy logo on the front of the car, but the one that said "Camaro" on the side fell off (according to my brother. The car was painted and fixed up a bit about 18 months ago, and I know that there were some things that happened to exterior in that process).

And last of all, I did try to reply to the message with the attachment and it didn't work either. I'll do it on this and hopefully it will go through.

Cool composition, but it looks like you moved. Castle is new?

Here is a shot of a camaro, that shows the logo.

going through the photos of that car show, that was the only one that had the logo, the others had removed them.

What do you mean "castle is new?" The actual house, or the photo? Or maybe I missed it entirely and you were talking about something else... Huh?

And yeah, I think that is the logo that fell off the car. :-( Is that the star filter that you mentioned before? It does give it a nice effect.

When I think "Castle" I think old stone. That wall is not old.
(the entire basis for the "not new" comment)

yes star filter, they're cheap on eBay.

Its not old in the sense of old castles. It's a mansion that was designed by the man who runs my photo school. He lives there, and gives tours of it for some of the photo classes (he's also got a great view of city lights, so they teach the photo 1 class how to do time exposure there). It's not hundreds of years old, maybe more like 15 years? So relatively, yes, it's new. And technically not a castle, but its got some of they styles of a castle. I've got some other pictures of the exterior that I should put up... Big Grin

Star filters rock.
I have some fake star filters you can use in Photoshop (I know, all you photography purists can slam me for using PS).  If anyone wants them PM me with your email address.

I use them on jewelry sometimes, but you have to be careful, or they look fake.  I have started using the blur tool on the tips of the stars to make it more real.

Candlelight makes for some cool pictures.  I don't think the composition is really strong on your castle picture, maybe a different crop?
