Clothing Trends

Ok, you know what, I am sick of some clothing trends.  They don't photograph well.

I hate the uber long t-shirts on girls that are made of that thin fabric.  Girls have tummies, they just do, it's a fact of life no matter how skinny you are.  Unless you were in a POW camp for awhile you are going to have to suck it in for pictures, and how do you tell people that?  It makes it hard to pose.

There are more, but none as bad as the long tight shirts coupled with low rise jeans.

Grrrr.

The trend for women in their 40's-50's right now is blue mascara. I HATE IT! It looks horrible in photos. Tongue

When I get a young lady with a bit of a tummy, I explain to her (and show her) that if she slumps over even a little bit it will show in the tummy area then I demonstrate what happens to the tummy when I "sit tall".  Not only does most of the tummy disappear but the wrinkles in the blouse around the midsection also magically vanish.  All I have to do when I catch them slumping over is to pat my stomach and straighten up. They usually smile and straighten up.

That's funny Benji.  I'll give that a try.

I haven't run across the blue mascara, although I think I owned some purple glitter kind when I was 12.

The long shirts are okay to wear if you are layering, I think, but they just keep getting longer and longer, and it's annoying to keep having to pull them back down, they ride up, and I am never sure if I should pull them over my butt or let them bunch around my waist...
I am jealous at how much of an easier time my husband has dressing himself every day.

the girls I shoot are a bit older but the same thing applies. I say "straighten up" and "belly" and they fix it without getting mad.

Girls that are a bit overweight (even if only in their mind) tend to hold their bellies in. Thin girls you have to tell. Can't say "Suck it in" cause they almost always take a breath and then their ribs stick out further than their breasts. (ok some of them[grin])

Yeah Bob, I think we had this conversation once, about how super thin girls have worse posture, girls that are overweight or even just curvy are in the habit of watching their posture.

Here is a good example. Bethany is "sucking it in" but she also arched her back which made her ribs stick out. Photos still looks good so I left it.
