Composing with Fibonacci

This looks like it may be pretty close to just another take on the rule of thirds, but an interesting though nonetheless.

Actually, the rule of thirds is a rip-off of the Fibonacci ratio (in my opinion), also known as the 'Divine Ratio' and the 'Golden Mean'.  The rule of thirds simply made it easy to establish the common 8X10 format and an estimation of subject placement.  The Fibonacci rule defines not only the location of the subject, but in its strictest sense, also defines the size/dimensions of the image.  The size of the image must meet the 1:1.618 ratio in order for the rectangles and the spiral to work out properly.  Very fun to think about though.

If you use Lightroom, you can use a Golden Mean for composition by going to the crop tool and pressing "o" a few times until you get to the overlay for it.
