Deer

So I have this thing for deer back home. They're so easy and fun to shoot.

Shot with a Canon Pellix QL, 50mm @ f/1.8 with ISO400 black and white film. I was about five to seven feet away.

Looks like a good catch with his front hoof slightly up.  Only critique I would say is that he is dead centered in frame.  It may be a little more interesting if he was off center a touch.

Very cool though that you're shooting with an older film SLR.  I started learning photography on my Dad's Canon QtB.

I sort of reverse-engineered everything I know about photography. Started out playing around with the manual functions on a Canon Powershot A80 and now I'll occasionally use a fully manual film camera and still get shots without a light meter.

Nicely captured.

Composition, well, I'm not much into the centering, good detail though.  :=)

I think this is the best shot of yours I've seen (I know firequall from another board). I love the swirling, out of focus snow-covered trees and the very sharp focus deer. Great job! Smiley

I don't think I've ever been close enough to an animal that didn't depend on me for food to take a photo with a 50mm lens...

Great shot !!

Beautiful, there is a nice serene quality to the image.  I rarely ever look at an image and feel like I am in the scene, but this one did that for me.  It's the lighting, very pretty.
