dumb question...but newbie to lenses

i have an olympus evolt E-330 dslr and i was in the neighborhood of looking for new bigger better lenses and i was wondering if you had to buy ones for that specific camera or can you buy lenses for any olympus camera and will a lens from an olympus 35mm film slr work the same as a DSLR?

There is no reason for you to call any of the members here dumb.  If you want to be self deprecating to yourself, go ahead.  But I will not accept you insulting other members.  If you are going to act like that go ahead and take your question, and your membership, elsewhere. I've found that the members here interact in some of the most intelligent conversations about photography that I've seen in a forum.  I wouldn't classify anyone here as "dumb".

I'm one of the 23 views and I've personally never touched an Olympus dSLR, so I have no clue.  My guess would be that others are in a similar boat.  I do know that Canons typically can use pretty much any lens between film SLRs and dSLRs, but there are a few exceptions.  My guess is Olympus is the same way.

And a few of those 23 were probably search engine spiders or guests that can't post.

Perhaps your post was viewed by people that were just lurkers and may even have the same question.  I use Olympus and like Ryan said, you can use any type of lens, however the digital lenses "talk" to the digital cameras.  There are computer chips in the lenses that take direction from the camera.  You can use a non digital SLR lens but your results won't be exactly the same.  At least that is how I understand it.  It was explained to me by a camera store employee.  I used a Canon film camera and when I switched to digital I bought an Olympus to start with.  So I don't have any tactical experience with this question.
