There was a ghost in the electrical panel this morning. Lights started randomly blinking on and off and going dim and bright. The girls were a little freaked out. Quick call to an electreician buddy of mine confirmed my thoughts; loose wire in the breaker box.
So, if you run across this problem at your house one day let me save you a few bucks before you call the electricians out.
1. Turn off the power at your meter.
2. Using a voltmeter make sure your not getting any power below your fuses.
3. Take a screwdriver or allen wrench (depends on what kind of set screws you have) and tighten the connections where the wiring is attached BELOW the fuses at the pole. There should be two hots and a ground. Note, above the fuses the power is still very much alive.
4. Take the front cover off of your breaker box in the house. Again with a screwdriver of allen wrench; tighten all connections in the box. Incoming main wiring, each individual breaker, and all the grounds.
5. Find your outside ground rod connections and make sure they're tight too.
6. Put the panel back on your breaker box.
7. Turn on the power at the meter.
8. If the ghost is still there call the electrician.
NOTE!!! I'm not an electrician by trade but this worked for me. If you kill yourself doing this for some reason don't blame me.
