Comments that make you happy...

What has a client/customer said that really made you happy?

I keep what I call a "joy journal," which is just a notebook of things that make me happy. When a customer says something that makes me smile, or something happens in life that makes me happy, I write it down. That way, when I'm feeling down, I can go back and read it and realize that things really aren't so bleak. Smiley

Here are some of mine:

"Let's do that again!" (six year old after his portrait)

"This is going to go right next to the Ansel Adams." (customer who bought a print) This comment is one I'll treasure forever. Smiley

"I just had to come back and tell you that we got the piece framed and it's so beautiful hanging in our living room." (customer yesterday)

I had one client that did NOT threaten me with either death or a lawsuit... that was nice... J/K

Honestly, the best thing that happened to me was showing a Mother a slideshow of images of her senior son and seeing her well up with joy that her son had thought to get her portraits of himself to give to her.  That was the first time (that I know of) that my photography had ever had a real powerful impact on someone for the positive.

Very nice! I took a portrait of a woman's dog and when I presented her with the final result, she just broke down and cried and hugged me. It's a wonderful feeling. Smiley

Your senior was definitely thoughtful and I'm glad you got to experience that moment! Whooo hoooooooo! *happy dance*

Most recently a belly dancer said she really liked the photoshoping I did to one of her images, it was absolutely amazing..
( In photoshop I adjusted the levels) I told her that I did nothing to the image and that was what the people that watch her dance see. She replied that she understands but still doesn't believe me.

My all time favorite is when the girl came in to look at some 16x20 prints she had ordered. She studied each and every one, then said  "she is beautiful, I can't believe its me"

made my head so big I had a hard time getting it in the car.

Sometimes it's not the things that are said about my work, it's how people respond to me that I get a big boost from, like at the end of a long day shooting a wedding when the bride and mother come up as I am leaving and tell me what a really awesome job I have done, and they haven't seen the pictures yet!!!
I am not a "hugging person", but I always love when brides give me a hug, and I feel like we have become friends.
