Finalist in a photo contest!!!!!

Surprisingly, I recieved a letter in the mail today saying that one of my photos was chosen as a finalist in a contest for the International Library of Photography.....Children catagory.  I am very happy and they are publishing the photo in a coffee table book.  Does anyone know anything about this contest?  I am very happy about it, but I have a sinking feeling that they send that letter out to everyone.  Any information would be very helpful.  Attached is the photo, most of you have seen it before and didn't like, but I am proud of it anyway.  Thank you for taking the time.  I have named the photo "Sweet and Somber"

This is a beautiful image but please see the following information.  This is a scam and they will be asking you for money! http://www.todays-woman.net/poetry-scams-34.html . There are a whole list of participating organizations which have numerous complaints filed against them.

You might want to remember that there should never be a charge if you win and to get your award!  There may however be a submission charge!

Thank you for the information.  They have not asked me for any money.  I will keep it in mind however.  I have been involved in a few scams before and have no desire to go down that road again.

Now I feel like a complete idiot.  I have read a lot about this place recently.  They should not toy with peoples emotions like that.  I thought that I had actually accomplished something.  Don't feel sorry for, my confidence is really shaken and my life gets worse with each passing day.

Irish, at least you were noticed enough for somebody to want to scam you!  You're getting a reputation- which means you are getting some where.  So what if the great outdoors has flies and ticks, it's the Great Outdoors!

No reason to feel bad.  These people play on emotions to try and get money, and they're very good at it.  A lot of people have to be falling for it, otherwise the scammer wouldn't be sending out the messages.  It's good that you're smart enough to do your research and caught it before you lost anything other than a few minutes.

And I'm with Mike.  I was sort of excited the first time I got a scam email about my photography  Grin

In all seriousness Irish, don't let something like this get you down, these people are trying to hurt others intentionally; you didn't get caught in their trap, you certainly shouldn't let them shake your confidence either.  Keep your chin up and keep moving forward.  We're all behind you as friends, and I'm sure many others are as well.
