Using your iris to protect your copyright

Canon has filed for a patent that would allow a camera to scan your iris when an image is taken and use that information as a type of watermark on the image. 

Looks like a pretty cool technology, although I don't know that I like the idea of an infrared camera pointing directly into my eyes.  Think about a wedding where you shoot 1,000 images.  That's 1,000 times that your eye is going to be lit with infrared.  Don't know how dangerous that is, but it seems like it may not be a good thing.
