engagement for critique

Pages [1] 2 3
Hi all,
Just thought I'd get brave and post a sample of my most recent engagement sessions. Let me know what you think.
Help, how do I make this post big enough to see. (and as Denzel would say...explain it to me like I'm a four year old)

Hi Carrie
I would make your image a little bigger.  If you can get it 600 pixels wide that would help.
All I can comment on now is the composition.  I can't see much else.  Granted, my vision isn't as great as everyone else's but they would probably also appreciate a bigger image to look at.
Is that possible?   Smiley

That's where I'm stuck. I've  only posted two other images, a while back, and I never figured out how to get them bigger. Can you explain  it???

Do you have a program like Photoshop where you can resize the image to the size you want?

I use Elements 6.0

Image/Image Size

And this window appears, just enter the longest end, the rest is done for you.
If you want a 600 px on the longest, enter eitheron the Width for horizontal or 600px on height for a vertical.

Carrie,
When you save your image you will probably have to select 10 on the slider.  This will compress it enough to post here, but not enough to pixelate it.

Ryan - are you around?  Is the forum resizing if the image is too big?  Any ideas?

Let me ask...I went to image/resize and entered 600 for width. I saved as jpg/10. Then (this is the only way I know how to attach the image) I saved to my desktop - maybe that is where my mistake is. Do I save to 320x240 - otherwise the site says my file is too large?

Ah ha, the 320x240 thing is your problem.  Try resizing to 550 in the width and then 10, if that doesn't work compress it down to 9 and see if that works.

The forum software won't scale down.  It limits on file size.  I would imagine that a level 10 jpg is going to be too big for the site.  10 is what I use when I send files to be printed since there's almost no compression.  I usually use somewhere in the 4-6 range for web images.

Really?  I can get away with 9 or 10.  Hmm

Perhaps we should move this thread out of this section and when Carrie gets it figured out she can post an entire new thread here.
That way everyone can post about resizing and stuff, and then Carrie will have a nice clean thread for her critiques.

Good idea.

I try to stay sub 50kb for most of my online sites, but the limit here is either 192 or 256kb (I can't remember which right now) and you probably can get by with less compression.
