First Christmas Portrait (Ever, Honestly)

Ace and his brother Shadow were kind enough to volunteer and help me practice shooting for the Christmas portraits. This is the very first I've ever done and it might be used to advertise my business for the next few weeks pertaining to the Christmas portraits. Had to upload the smaller version.

Edit: I had turned the ISO to 1600 a few nights ago... The camera's card reader was broken and until I got it fixed I couldn't take pictures. By the time I could use it again it was already nighttime but I decided to shoot some burning leaves to test it anyway. It worked. But the card reader still has issues. At least it's letting me take pictures again. I completely forgot about the ISO when I shot this picture earlier today.

Not really sure how this is a Christmas portrait.

If your card reader is still having issues, I certainly would not start booking clients.

Are you set up, business license wise, tax wise, insurance, etc. to be advertising for clients?

As for the portrait, it's almost there. The younger kid's right arm looks awkward. The lighting, as you mentioned, is blown out because you botched the ISO. I'm not sure what's going on with the color, but it definitely does not say Christmas to me. It's a "sort of" sepia, but if you're going to go sepia, you need to do it to the entire photo, not just their faces, or it just looks odd. This photo works well as a black and white.

I do like the brotherly love that's coming across in their expressions.

Thank you, Mrs. Murdoch,

I had looked at it in black and white, too, and I agree with you, I thought it looked better. I will fix the colors this week.

My mother and I are working on getting my privilege license renewed.

I did try to get them to pose in ways where I could have their hands be seen, but these pictures came out worse.

It's not really saying Christmas to me. I think as a portrait it's great. As a photographer I'd nitpick on the hands, but most clients wouldn't even notice with expressions as strong as those.
