Susie, I am no help because I don't do very well at these at all. The shots you have here do not have the 'life' and beauty that you capture in all your other images however, so I do think you should pursue this some more. I don't mean that as rudely as it probably comes across. Check out patkenphotographer.com. This is the site of Doug Gordon; a 'big-shot' in New York and in the workshops for photographers. Anyway, on his Wedding III page he has one in about the middle of the image gallery that I think is nice, also on his Details gallery there is one that is nice. Just for ideas. I also wonder if you could study some technique for hand position in formal dancing. They seem to place hands so elegantly together for men and women.
Mainly I think you need something more interesting. Maybe the hands are actually doing something, like dancing, the groom kissing the back of her hand (like Doug's image), her hand along his cheeck with his hand running up her arm, his hand on her neck or chest area (no, not actually copping a feel). All very close cropped of course, so the shot is about the rings and hands, but so they are doing something believable and loving/sensual/together. I do like the idea of having the bride's back to the groom so the hands are already on the same side. Also, if done properly, you could very easily move into full-length poses and many other various shots with the same basic pose and setup. In fact, maybe you should keep your eyes open for where their hands are in other photos you are doing as you pose them for together shots. There may be ideas already in front of you that you just need to exploit for your ring shots.
