Hands and Wedding Ring PosesLibrary Thread

Pages 1 2 [3]
I hope you weren't expecting me to contribute to this thread. The only wedding band shot I've ever taken was with the bride and groom holding a shotgun instead of flowers. (Long story, funny but long)

I always find some really good ring shots when I visit this site. TrashTheDress.com

I know this is almost a month later, but I really like Katie's and Hannah's. At least with Katie's, I like the angle that it is at, and the crop.

I know this is almost a month later

That's okay, I am still shooting weddings.
Thanks for the input.  I am hoping to get a great shot at the next wedding, I'll post it.

Well . . . two more months go by and . . .

I used to shoot images similar to what you have been doing Susie.  In fact, a great many photographers still do exactly that.

However, there are a few problems with this pose.  First, you really don't want to show the backs of hands flat to the camera like this.  It is almost always better to show hands from the side.  The pinky side, in fact.  If I have the chance later, I will look for some of mine.  But, I would recommend going directly to the master for this.  Take a look at this link: http://www.montezucker.com/content.html?page=6# and scroll down a little.  This is where I learned the way that I am posing hands/rings now.

Later . . .

Thanks Ed, I will check that out.  Monte is always great to reference.
I know the side of the hand rule, but I was trying to get the ring really well...
I am going to try some new stuff at the next wedding I am doing.  I'll post what I get and we can pick it apart.

Later . . .

First, Welcome to PAF

Second, do you have a larger version you could post so we can see more detail?  It's tough to give much constructive critique to a tiny image.  And you might want to start your own thread.  That way it won't get buried in an old thread.
