High Key and Hair

So, I am using white backgrounds a lot for my boudoir stuff, and I am not necessarily going for a high key look, but I have run into a problem.
Hair looks weird against white backgrounds, dark hair especially.  Obviously fly aways are a pain to retouch, but even the rest of the edges look weird.  I will post an example later, but I wondered what everyone else does in this situation.

I used to have this same problem years ago, or at least I think it is the same problem anyway. Once you pose an example I will know more.

Ok, this isn't high key, per se.  She is on a white bed with white drapes behind and I wanted some detail.
But anyway, this is actual pixel size, it's cropped from a full length shot.
See how the edges look horrible?

I see no issues other then focus.

Ok, here's another one, maybe the last one was a bad example.  I put the full image too.  The first crop is actual pixels.

Did you do anything else to these images, other than cropping? I find that, if I overdue the dodge/burn tool, I get weird hair edges.

Comments and Harsh Critiques gladly accepted. My photos are ok to edit.

This is how the hair pretty much looks with a light background before and after editing...
It's more a problem of the light coming through the hair than editing I think.

That is it exactly.  The white background simply shows through the "holes" in the hair.  It looks natural to me!

Oh okay, thanks.  I think I need to have my H&MUA smooth down the hair better.  When she back combs to give volume to the hair I don't like the fuzzy look on the top...

Thats the way hair looks, unless its greased down. couple of the tricks I use when cutting a girl out of the background where it shows through her hair is use a very soft brush to paint the new background over the edges of her hair then use the clone stamp on very soft to put some of the edges back. Its not "natural" but it might give you the look you want.
