Yep, it's image mapping. This is the code for that first link:

It's more complex than mine, but take a look at the front page -
www.definitionimages.com - the title, links and picture of the girl are all an image. I just used rectangle coordinance of where the words are and made them links, that way my links look exactly how I want and they appear where I want. The problem is that if someone can't view images with their web browser they can't navigate my site, but honestly if they aren't viewing images my site will be pointless anyway, I am selling a visual thing.
