probably image mapping.  I do that on my site.  You designate coordinates on the image to link to different places.  In a minute I will look at the code and see if that's what it is.

Yep, it's image mapping.  This is the code for that first link:

AREA SHAPE="POLY" COORDS="23,12,13,91,62,96,73,95,68,57,85,55,89,18" HREF="brice.php" ALT="Brice Voetberg's Bio"

It's more complex than mine, but take a look at the front page - www.definitionimages.com - the title, links and picture of the girl are all an image.  I just used rectangle coordinance of where the words are and made them links, that way my links look exactly how I want and they appear where I want.  The problem is that if someone can't view images with their web browser they can't navigate my site, but honestly if they aren't viewing images my site will be pointless anyway, I am selling a visual thing.

You can do that in Dreamweaver CS3

you can do that in older versions of dreamweaver to...
but i don't know notepad. but it is image mapping.

you draw a nice little design in the spot that you want the person to roll there cursor on and click ... and then the link you assigned it will come up.    like a hotspot.

You don't need dreamweaver.
you can copy my code and put in the coordinance for your own image.  I always use rectangles, less coordinance.  I find the coordinance in paint, you know that free program that comes with Windows.  Just get the cursor and put it on each spot and write down the numbers at the bottom.  There will be a comma (,) between them.
There has to be a good online explaination of image mapping somewhere, it's easy to write by hand.

i wasn't trying to imply that anyone did NEED dreamweaver
but its clearly what mike and i learned while in school.

with dreamweaver its just easy (no codes/numbers)  you draw (map) out a little box or triangle or heart  . . . .  in the area you want the link.
you type in the link and BING BANG BOOM its there.

but if you use note pad go with these 'codes' numbers ...

i clearly need to google that program cause i have not really heard of it.
is it for MAC's ??      i might have it and i don't even know.. . ..   Big Grin

So nice to have dreamweaver though, eh? Now, If I can only work it, all of us in the class were frustrated, because the one teaching had very little experience teaching, still managed though to get through. LOL

Notepad is just a little text editor for Windows.

Notepad is just a free program that comes with Windows, you just write text into it, but there are no bells and whistles.  The program doesn't take html code and display it like a webpage like Word does, it just shows it as text.  It's how you write everything from scratch.  Like longhand.
I went to school for graphic design and web site building (a long time ago) so that's how I learned to do it.  A program would probably be nice though.

Well, Susie, IF you ever get your hands on Dreamweaver CS3, thanks us later, you'll go nuts in it. You'll say, "That's it?"
It's made for you who are web designers.

Ok, I will put it on my list of things I can't afford, first being a new camera Smiley
Seriously, I would love a program like that.  But it's one of those things where since I can do it the free way, I get by with that.
