I love being a photographer!!!!Library Thread

OK, I have to calm down a little.  You'll never guess what I did last weekend!  I got to photograph three of the greatest American made cars in history! Three original 1966 Carroll Shelby race cars!

-1966 Shelby Cobra 427
-1966 Shelby GT40 MkII
-1966 Cobra GT350

The GT40 is reportedly THE car that won the 24-hr LeMans in France and finally showed the world that we could compete with the Ferrari's!  Again, these were not kit cars, they were the original Ford manufactured cars.  They are owned by Larry Miller, the owner of the Utah Jazz.  Mr. Miller had loaned them to a machine-tool supplier for an open house, that I just happened to be hired to photograph for a trade magazine!  WOO-HOO!!!

Unfortunately, the property release I was able to acquire limits my use of the images for only the magazine I was working for, so I can't show any of my images to you.  I'm so sorry Sad.  However, here are some links to some images of the same models of cars:

Ford GT40 MkII  (The car shown on the right with the #1 on the hood looks identical to the one I photographed).

Shelby Cobra 427  (The one I photographed was blue with the classic white racing stripes).

Ford GT350  (This looks just like the one I photographed).

And, if you have ten minutes and want to see just how much some people love cars... here is a video of the ONLY Shelby Cobra "Super Snake" in existence sold at a Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction last year.  The car in the video is one of only two cars ever built, the other supposedly was built for Bill Cosby, who sold it to another man that eventually wrecked it and died in the accident.

So, what's the magazine and when's it out so we can take a look?

Well, it's a pretty small circulation trade magazine that's printed every other month.  It's called A2Z Metalworker and it should be out in September.  This is the third time in a row I have been hired to do their cover and feature story photographs, I posted the first cover I did for them a few months ago.  Things have gone really well since.

How cool Travis.  I love cars.  Growing up my dad used to take me to car shows all across the state.
Anyway, that's so cool you had a great time.  I love when photography is just as much play as it is work.

I think I remember that post.

Oh well, I guess we'll just have to imagine it Cheesy Grin

Congratulations for sure.

The GT40 has always been my dream car. I've always wanted a kit though so it would be more streetable and I wouldn't have a coronary when I went over a speed bump.

Is one of those the same Shelby that they have to steal in Gone in 60 Seconds?

Nice.  I work with a guy that did the assembly line for the new GT40's.  He got a picture of him sitting in one as a gift.  I would rather have the car.

I'd be happy with a couple hot laps at Laguna Seca.

YES!!  If you click on the image and go to the gallery...  Image #2 is the Shelby Cobra 427, #19 #24 #25 #26 are all of the GT40.  The only one not there is the GT350.  Cool, thanks Ryan.

(I wonder if they're allowed to have those images up... hmmm, lucky them).
