I need a new galleryLibrary Thread

Pages [1] 2
Alright!  I hate my galleries, especially on my boudoir site. I have struggled with this for years!
Any suggestions where I can get code or software to do a great gallery on my website?  They don't have to be free.
I don't like simple viewer and would prefer to stay away from flash if at all possible.

I use gena web gallery creator, it has tons of variations and can be modified to mesh perfectly with the rest of your site. (I think its $40 or so)

all the galleries on my site were created with it.

Do you want one where you see one image and click it to go to the next?  Automatically goes from one to the next?  Thumbnails that you click on to see a larger image?

Well, I don't have my heart set on anything in particular, but preferably a large image that you can click to go to the next one. I don't mind thumbnails on the side, but I hate navigating where I have to take my eyes of the main image to click the next thumbnail.
While I am making a wish list I would also like it to be either embedded somehow into my own webpage (but that can be tricky) or something at least customizable so I can put my own header at the top with navigation links.

Have you tried the neat little program inside of photoshop that makes a page for you?

I use coppermine for mine.

I have used Photoshop Elements for the one on my wedding page.  There is nothing wrong with it, but it's not spectacular and the images are a little small.  To resize or make any adjustments like adding links is a pain because it produces a billion seperate html pages.

Here is an example, it's my engagement page (and yes I desparately need to update my galleries, lots of these pictures are over 5 years old or more and my work is so much better now):

I use Zenfolio with a plug-in for Lightroom that let's me export directly to my galleries. The plug-in is free for up to ten images at a time, $50 for the full version. I can select the images I want to upload, resize, change to jpeg, select the color space, and make a new gallery if necessary all in one shot. Plus I can let it run and work on other stuff in LR or PS at the same time. With the pro account at Zenfolio I can set my own prices, options, coupons, charges for downloads and licensing, and collect sales tax through the site. The only thing they don't do is albums and books so I have to handle that myself. Other than that I just upload the full res edits and the clients can get as much as they want shipped directly to them.

Susie, are you wanting this JUST to be a display gallery for people to get an idea of your work, or do you want this to be your proofing gallery, for clients to select their images? I was assuming the former.

Coppermine is free and can be integrated into your website. http://coppermine-gallery.net/ There are tons of themes to choose from, including a nice filmstrip at the bottom and large image in the center just like what you want. Smiley

Right, just a display gallery. I have a proofing/ordering solution already.
I'll check it out.

Ryan,
I was talking to Travis last night and I started talking about how I still need to revamp my galleries and he said I should check out ProofBuddy. You need to get more plugs in about it because I forgot about it.
I know that the point of it is for the shopping cart aspect, but is it customizable where I could leave that off and make it more of a gallery thing?

Yup.  If you don't put in any pricing options the cart doesn't show up.

I was going to mention proofbuddy, but don't your users have to put in a password to get in?

You can create a link that does it for them.  If you make a password of 123, you can link to yoursite.com/proofs/?p=123 and it will automatically log them in.
