Did some photo journal work in a forgotten grave yard. The man lynched by the sherif in 1906 is buried here. I'm helping a group draw attention to this historic site. Its a black cemetery, most here are ex-slaves. there are over a thousand unmarked graves.

We have one similar to this where I live and unfortunately I have relatives burried there.  It is a "pioneer" cemetary that is outside city limits so the city won't take care of it and the county is "not in the cemetary business".  This gives me ideas to go and take photos and maybe get a historical group involved.

I help to keep up my family cemetery which ended up being shared with several of the old local families. It goes back before Texas was a country, much less a state. The slave cemetery is right next to it with a large number of bricks for markers with no names from days gone by. Their descendants help to keep that side up. It's not an easy or cheap job to do when you get into the restoration part of it. From the looks of it there's going to be a lot of elbow grease involved at first.

I love cemeteries!
This is great Bob.
I hope you get to go back and photograph it when its been cleaned up.

Yes, it's very sad to see a cemetery in such disarray.  But it definitely adds to the power of the image.

As an update, I've scheduled a photo shoot there with models in period clothing.
We're going to shoot ghosts. (sad ghosts not creepy or scary ones)

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooo........... light opacity images of the models overlayed around the tombstones would be so much fun!!

yup gonna take two shots one with the model one without then merge them.
One model will be wearing a wedding dress the others 1890s style night dresses.
