Diana & Andrew

My best female friend, Diana, was married to Andrew on June 27, and while I wasn't the photographer for the wedding, I took some shots of them during the reception.

The second shot is great.  I love the expression you captured and the black and white is nice.  The first one would be good, but I don't like the sepia tone. Sepia isn't my favorite to begin with, so take that for what it's worth.

The bouquet picture is a good clean, unexciting picture of a bouquet, but she will like it.  It's her bouquet and I have seen a billion before... so I am just turning into a jaded wedding photographer  Big Grin

I would crop the second one so there isn't that huge field of black from his jacket that's unbalancing the photo. Great expression captured. Pure joy!

Just an aside, what's with the flat flat flat nails I'm seeing in pictures lately? Bleh. [/personalopinion] haha

I am not so sure I would crop it, it would make her appear to take up more of the frame... not something I would want if I were the bride.

And Marian, are you talking about the squared off nails?  It does seem to be in.  I don't wear fake nails, and I never seem to be up on the nail trends.

Thanks for the comments. :-)

I loved the colors in the bouquet! I love flowers in general (a friend of mine is always telling me to stop taking so many flower pictures...I just laugh), and they were so pretty. But I agree, it is a basic bouquet shot. I don't mind, I just liked it. :-)

I think the dress is also blown out. Its the first time I've shot a wedding dress (or any white clothing) and it didn't even occur to me to make sure it wasn't.

Marian, I tried cropping it, so below is what I came up with. I'm sure what you meant about the jacket, so I don't know if that's what you had in mind. But I thought I would give it a try anyway.

Susie, Here is the original of the first one, so you can see if without the sepia.  Big Grin

Lauren I like these seconds that youve posted better than the first.
I think in my opinion..The sepia youve gone for has too much green. She looks a little out of this world.
I like the idea I would just work on the tones a bit.
Nice work.
I think shooting weddings is fun when youre NOT the one responsible for the pro photos.  Big Grin
Thats just my experience.

meh, then you have an underexposed image.  Don't worry so much about it, dresses can be white, as long as you have SOME detail so they don't look like a cut-out of a dress from white paper pasted over the image.

LOL, and don't worry about my comment about the basic-ness of the bouquet.  It's just meant it would be more special to her than us.  It's a good clean shot.

And yes, I like the color SOOOOO much better than the sepia.  The colors are pretty, I wouldn't mess with them.

Thanks :-)

The sepia wasn't actually sepia, i was playing around with the colors and when it turned to a yellow shade, I turned down the saturation. So I can see how it could easily be the wrong shade. I was having a hard time getting the tone right.

Don't worry about the bouquet comments. I wasn't taking offense. I completely understand how it could be a "seen one, seen them all" type of thing. Big Grin

Thanks for all the comments! That is helpful.

Hmmm... that crop of his jacket just makes it worse, doesn't it? Now he looks like he's really wide.

Brides oftentimes lend themselves to a pinkish color. Here's my take on it:
