Making screen savers

Anybody out there in PAF land have any experience with software to make screensavers from photos?  Ideally it would be something fairly inexpensive as I'm trying to put together a few for Christmas gifts and not looking to resell or anything.

It's too bad you hadn't asked this a couple years ago... I have a friend that wrote a little program for me so I could put photos on a CD and the Autorun would create the screensavers for you when you loaded the CD in the computer.  I know I still have it around here somewhere, but we've made two moves since then and I don't know where it's at right now.  If I find it I'll send it to you.

Ooo... I've been looking for the same kind of program!!

I also found a program that makes jigsaw puzzles out of my photos, but had to pay for the darn thing so it would take off its stupid ads. Sad And, after I paid for it, I found that it had no autoinstall program. Sad Sad

Unfortunately, like my jigsaw program, most of the ones I find require payment if you're going to sell the screensaver. They're fine for personal use, but they want $$ if you're using it to make money.

Oooooooooooo, but this got me to thinking. If I made a slideshow of my work and handed them out as promotional items..............

I can create slideshows that go on a dvd, and I can create my own screensavers on my computer... but I can't create a slideshow to put on a disk for someone else's computer.  But it has to be do-able.  I purchased a screensaver at an art gallery of a collection of paintings.  I had to pick between a windows and a mac version though.

Well, I'm still looking, but the program I had would create a slideshow screen saver, and the whole reason I got it done by him was exactly handing out a CD that would create a slideshow screensaver for potential clients.  This was a long time ago, back when I didn't think I'd ever do portraiture (maybe I should have stuck with that idea anyway).  Oh well, I will keep looking and let you all in on it if I can ever find it.  I'm sure I've got it somewhere... one thing is for sure, it'll be in the last place I look.  Big Grin

Well, look there first, then.

I think I'd be more worried about you if it wasn't in the last place you looked Cheesy Grin
