It's just me.

Had fun with a self portrait this evening.

Cool.  Looks really grainy, is that what you were going for?

Pretty much. I was trying out a new technique that I still have some quality issues with. It's not ready for prime time. I did the whole effect in Lightroom without using any plug-in's.

Very cool self portrait!! I love the low camera angle, making you look very superheroish with your glowing wrench of dooooom!

I'm with Marian, very cool.

You could blur a layer copy then clone out yourself. should remove most of the grain. When you "increase detail" or "fill light" is where most of the noise comes from. (my experience only, no proof)

If you're in lightroom, try maxing out both the fill light and the recovery sliders, then move the black point slider and clarity to taste. I was looking for a quick and nasty HDR/Lucisart style. I had a pretty under exposed sky so I think I introduced more noise than necessary.

I usually stay away from that fill light slider cause of the noise.

Normally I use light room to set white balance, exposure and crop, guess I need to look at some of its other "features"

Hey John.  I don't mind the grain at all in this image.  I don't think you got the Lucisart feel quite yet, but keep working on it and I'm sure you will.

I think it's a great camera angle and a great idea.  I think the wrench caught a little too much light and is stealing the show however.  A slight turn of the wrist would fix the angle of reflectance on it and it would be more evenly lit.  The only real suggestion I have is to add a kicker to the shadow side.  I would also like it to be gelled blue.  It wouldn't need to be very strong, but it would give some added dimension to you, provide some separation, and keep with your current color scheme.

Oh I didn't mean I minded the grain, I was making sure that was what he was going for and not some weird compression or a result of over lightening.
