What's in your Camera bag?

There's a blank space where the spare body w/28-135 goes. It was taking the photo. I also have a rolling pelican case for travel and on the water, and a smaller bag if I'm going to be doing a lot of walking and not carrying much gear. In another large rolling plastic case I keep my lighting gear: 2-750w/s monolights, umbrellas, stands, soft box, strip box, reflectors, extension cords, tape, pocket wizards, orbus ringlight, exposure target, and various other junk. A couple vagabonds are next on the gear list.

Mine contains:
Safety pins (for dress and undergarment mishaps)
Clear tape (for temporarily repairing rips in dresses)
Visine (for dry/red eyes)
Clear lipgloss with wand applicator (the wand can apply the lipgloss to the finger to put on the lips = sanitary)
White sheet (to put under wedding dress to keep in clean)
White umbrella
Oil blotting sheets (Mary Kay makes the best, to blot shine from skin)
Mints (for kissing shots or for myself in case I have to get close up shots)
Bottle of water
protein bar
cell phone
keys

Oh yeah... and my lens, my camera doesn't fit, it hangs around my neck Sad

Mine's empty. Grin I haven't taken it out of the plastic bag it came in yet.

I have my camera body, 3 lens (lenses?), battery charger, tripod mount, plus various cables for the computer/tv and the instruction manual. I have a flash that has its own case too. :-)

Between my wife and I we have 3 camera bags.  I have one large and one small, and it depends on what I'm doing as to which I'll carry.

Sadly, it's been so long since I've taken pictures that I don't know what's in each one right now.

Forget the fieldtrip to show Susie the town. We need to get Ryan shooting again!

(then we'll show Susie the town)

Ryan, your wife shoots? I did not know that.

Marian, we could combine the field trips... could be fun, maybe, honestly I am a rather non-party-ing girl. I'm boring.

Yup.  On one of our first dates we went out to a state park and she used one of my cameras and she got hooked.  When we were doing weddings we shot together.  A year old daughter doesn't leave a lot of time for shooting for fun that doesn't involve her.  Most of what I've shot in the past year has been of my daughter using an iPhone.

Last time I shot I had 2 bodies, a 12-24mm, 24-40, and 70-210 - all Sigma EX.  Plus a handful of batteries, cards, and all the stuff that goes with it.  Our wedding bags had an assortment of Advil, Tide sticks, safety pins, and that sort of thing.  Lens rags are the thing most likely to get lost when shooting.

Oh, Tide sticks that's a great idea. I haven't run into a situation where I have needed one, but you never know.

Ryan, I did not know you had a baby that young! Oh my gosh, you keep to yourself don't you? Well belated congrats on the new baby, since I certainly knew you back then, but didn't know about the new baby at the time!
And yeah, I can imagine a baby taking all your time. I would love to have another one, I don't want my daughter to be an only child, but I can't figure out how I could afford to stop shooting for awhile. We depend on the income. I make considerably more than my husband.

Ryan's got a new baby and mines just about grown up. We were figuring out the financing for college last night. Kinda sad to be 33 and consider it too late to have more kids.

Here in Utah women start having children really young. I was 24 when I had mine and we were critisized for waiting (I got married when I was 20).

Anyway, I wish I had more lenses to put in my camera bag! When I can save up enough money I want a lens for detail work at weddings.

I have 5 grown kids and 6 grandkids.  Cheesy

I've started packing my camera bag. Thus far, it has a lot of what you all have stated, but I also have business cards (you never know), a small nikon coolpix for those hard to reach macro shots, and a tiny drawing pad for when the inspiration hits.

If nothing else, I've learned that I had no idea how old everyone was.  I always assumed you were in your late 30s maven.  Just never pictured you as a grandmother.

And yes, business cards are a must.  Never went out of my way to hand them out at weddings, but somebody would always ask and I would, as subtly as possible, hand them one.  I've even handed a few out when I was out shooting for fun.

Notepad is another one of those musts for me.  A paper notepad got retired when I got my iPhone though.  It's always with me anyway, and it's a quick and easy way to take notes.

Ryan, I think you and I are really close in age. If I remember correctly.

Notepad? I'm hating paper right now. I should either use my phone or something to jot down ideas, because they come and go a lot. But then again I seem to have a lot of big ideas that I know aren't feasible. I could fill a book with crap I'll never do.
