Offline blogging, on a Mac

Anyone out there use an offline blogging program?

I used to use Windows Live Writer and really liked it.  I was able to write where ever I happened to be and post when I was happy with it and back online.  The idea of writing in something more like a word processor instead of a web page worked better for me.

But I've since traded in my Vista notebook for a MacBook.  And I since haven't been able to find something that I'm as happy with as I was with Live Writer.  I've tried Blogo, which I really didn't like; Qumana, also didn't like; and am now trying MarsEdit which seems to be the best so far.  But it's still not quite what I'm looking for.

I guess I don't "get it". Why not just write your blog in a word processing program and then cut and paste when you are happy with it?
I write my blogs in Word first (if they are longer than a few sentences) because I like the auto spell check. I am not a bad speller, but I have typos sometimes.

I guess I like the idea of everything happening from one program instead of having to login to WordPress and paste.  And Word has a knack of inserting bad characters into the HTML of posts.

Might be a thought though.

It might depend on how much you blog though, I average about once a week on my boudior blog. I am now attempting a wedding blog too, so maybe I will want something more streamlined in the future... but I don't have a Mac.

I'm trying for one a day, but it works out to more like one a week. I get hits off the blog but so far no "followers" or "fans".. [shrug]

There are several blogs on my server, but only a handful that I really care about.  One is my daughter's and I tend to update that one from my iPhone when I take pictures.  It's there for the grandparents.  One is photo related, one is web related, and one is somewhat random although it's been comp sci type stuff recently.  Having some type of program to make it easier to update means that I will actually update more often.  When I was using Windows Live Writer I was putting 2 or 3 posts on each blog a week.  Now I'm lucky if I do one a month.

My non-photo blogs are:
One for my daughter, she's five, I let her dictate parts of it, stuff like talking about losing her first tooth, etc. I try and put pictures up on it, but I am a horrible mom and don't do it often. There are places that will turn you blogs into books that are awesome looking, I hope to do that one day, instead of keeping a journal for her, which I started but am even worse at doing hard-copy stuff, computer stuff is more convenient.

I also have a recipe blog. I set it to private and copy and paste my favorite recipes into it then give them searchable keywords so in my kitchen I can find a recipe super fast and then leave it up on my computer screen while I cook/bake, rather than having a book, they are bulky and time consuming to flip through.

I kinda live in a cyber world, lol, between my blogs for convenience, reading books on my Kindle and even grocery shopping online...
I really want an iPad, but I am having visions of Wall-E. Have you guys seen that movie? Did it forshadow the ill-effects of the iPad or what? Not that it matters, I can't afford it.
