Quick text editor for the Mac

Anybody have a favorite text editor for the Mac? I've been using TextEdit because it's really fast and already on my computer, but it doesn't do a few things I'd like it to. Most notably syntax highlighting or line numbers. I'd really like to find something like Notepad++ on the PC for the Mac. Right now I've got JEdit downloading and we'll see how that goes.

Apparently jEdit and jEditX are two separate programs. jEditX is the one I downloaded and it's about 100megs and shareware. jEdit is much smaller and free.
