Anybody tried Mozy?

I've been looking at using something like Mozy for offsite backups.  For $4.95 a month it seems like a heck of a deal.  If nothing else, I wouldn't have to worry about maintaining the offsite server I'm using now.

Has anyone tried it?  Any thoughts?  And the one thing I can't seem to find is if you can backup multiple computers to one account.

Found the answer to the computer question.  It's $4.95 a month per computer.  Still not bad though.  There's also a business version that has a server option, but there's a per GB charge on that one as well.  The $4.95 personal account is unlimited.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you are talking about really. This place backs up your files via the internet?

You've probably seen their commercials and had no idea what they were selling.  There's one where a washing machine falls on somebody's notebook.

They're an online backup service.  But the more I looked at it, the less I liked the way it works.  You have to have a program installed and running all the time on your computer.  And I'm not a big fan of having much running.  And if you delete a file from your computer it's deleted from their servers as well so it doesn't sound like it protects you against deleting a file or changing the contents.  I guess I'll stick with the server sitting in my dad's study a couple hundred miles away.

Yeah, you just sold me on sticking with my system of multiple external hard drives.
I would like something that backs up maybe every night, or less, like once a week.

And yeah, that commercial doesn't sound familiar. But a) I don't watch much t.v. and b) I have a DVR, which was invented to fast forward through commercials (which is cool, but I always seem out of the loop, especial about upcoming movies).

The software that came with my RAID set-up has a back up that you can configure to run as often as you like and only copy the folders or drives you want. I have it mirror an entire drive every night, and I keep all the important stuff on that drive.

Not sure if Mozy is any different that Carbonite on how it works. I know they're both pretty cheap for what they do. One problem with all of those options, and an offsite server, is if you have to be on satellite internet like me. There's a bandwidth limit per hour of downloads and uploads. If you go over it they shut your access down to just a trickle for 24hrs. It's a bit ...frustrating at times. I pay well above base price for higher speed an download limits but still have to watch how much I download at one time. $80 a month and I'm slower than DSL with a download limit and hope that the weather doesn't get too bad. Sorry for the rant.

The problem with those backup services is if they go under you loose. If they shut down, all their servers go on auction. (as is) It happened to a really big company and thousands of people lost their backups, the few that needed them during that time lost.

500gig drives are less than $100 I backup everything to two jump drives. (haven't decided on a program yet, haven't found one I like)

I actually saw a 1 TB external drive in a BH Photo catalog today for about $106. When I looked online I couldn't find the same one, but I did find this which is about the same:
