model port

This model contacted me about doing portfolio images. We had a lot of fun at the shoot. She brought A LOT of outfits and we used a corset my sister made (the black and cream one) and a pink tutu she made for my studio.

I like how you let the light show in the second image. It gives it a Hollywood feel.

The top one looks blown out a little, but not to make it a bad shot.

The second one I love. (two safety pins and a rubber band would make that corset fit better [grin])

Next time you're at the hobby store pick up some black foam core or mat board and see if you can fabricate "Barn Doors" to go on that light just to make it look more "Hollywood"

The first one is blown in PP. It was actually probably underexposed by half a stop. I had her standing away from the wall so she was closer to the lights and then I dropped them when she sat but didn't move them closer. My bad, although it wasn't really that much off.
I was going for "cotton candy" with my editing.
I have shown that top shot to lots of people, and um, I am the only one that likes it, lol. I just love the doll-like look with the combat boots that look disproportionate because they are close to the camera.... Maybe if it was more over-the-top it would look more like it was supposed to be that way. Don't worry I got more poses.

Bob, I know! I was wishing I had barn doors. My stupid aluminum thing around the light isn't that cool. I was going to look into buying one, I am not so sure I am handy enough with foamcore.

I like it. :-) "Doll" is exactly what I thought of the first time I saw it. I think the boots are a nice touch. Its gives her some edge.

I don't dislike the first shot, I just think it's missing something. I like the pose and the styling; I don't know if it's the pink wall or something else. Maybe it needs a grittier feel for my taste. A slightly harder light with a vignette and a old warehouse wall or something.

John that's it... Susie, take the image and make the canvas at least twice as tall color of the wall with her still at the bottom. then use a bold paintbrush to write something on the wall, like she just wrote it and then sat down. (or use spray and put a can by her)

ok I'm in a dark mood but what comes to mind is

"I'M NOT SORRY!"

etc etc etc

lol, that's an interesting idea about the spray paint.
I would love to have shot this against a gritty brick wall or with a wood floor. But I am working with what I have in my studio.

I am really looking for an old fashioned sofa or settee. I wouldn't care if it is damaged or a bit dirty. I want to put it in front of a window that I currently don't use and hang it with torn antique lace drapes and have victorian style wallpaper that is peeling off the wall.
Then I want wood floors. My list could go on and on for my studio, but I have to do it a little bit at a time so I can spread the cost out.

I haven't had any luck there, of course I check infrequently... and I have to drive to a DI across town, I am totally one of those people that don't want my neighbors seeing me walk into that type of store (sad).
I have been watching KSL, but anything that is the style I want is probably in too good of condition because they want thousands for them.

Susie, these are killer shots! The only thing I was wondering about was that area of her own left thigh in the first one. Where the skin is showing, what is she wearing there?

Hey, Bob, you mean like this?

They are nude colored fishnets. You can see them better in the image in this thread:

I am not sure... but she does burlesque dancing, I guess they are popular for that. They do show up more in person than in the pictures. I was worried about how they would photograph. I thought it might just look like her legs were weird but the model and makeup artist seemed to love them so much I went along with it. I was pleased it turned out better than I thought.
