name that plant

Having purchased a house in the winter, new things are popping up all over the yard now that its spring.
I dont know really what any of it is.
But this one is very delicate and unusual looking.
Also smells amazing.
Anyone know what it is?

Can we get a better image of the leaves? It almost looks like some kind of holly. Is it sweet smelling, or more like Christmas? Can you also show us the entire plant?

I'm sorry I forgot where you moved. What state are you in? Not that I know anything about plants.... I live in the desert where we have to work hard to keep anything alive very long.

GA. Susie, I have spent my adult life in CO really, so I dont know any flowers either. Well, columbine, but really!
Marian, I was so interested in the bloom I ignored the plant. But, its out my garage door so I can go snap  one I suppose.
It is sort of holly like in the leaf area. And it smells VERY sweet!!

The first time I tried to identify a plant I was raked over the coals by the plant people... If you want a plant identified you need to take three photos

1. a photo of the plant far enough back to get the entire plant and you need something in the photo like a soft drink can so the size can be determined.
2. a photo of the bloom. again with a size reference of some sort.
3. a close up of one leaf cluster, if the leaves don't cluster then a leaf again with a size reference.

There are certain thing every type of geek needs to know before they can ID one of their things.

Plant geek, bird geek, car geek, etc etc all the same [grin]

Or that... [grin]

I am a romantic, used to bring flowers to my lady from time to time. Karen told me not to she can't stand to watch them die... Anyway, I was going to my at the time girlfriend's house and saw a lady in her yard tending a beautiful flower garden. I stopped the car and went up to her, told her how beautiful her garden was and would it be possible to buy a couple of flowers to take my girlfriend.

I ended up not only with a free bouquet but the history of each flower...

And I bet she was happy to have someone who was willing to hear about them. :-D
