First, I like it like it is, pretty unusual for an American photographer as, as far as I know, this is not a common pose among US photographers. You deserve (a little) praise for that way of thinking out of the box!
There are a few flaws however.
This pose is - in my opinion OK -, but the light is coming from the wrong side or better, if she would have stood on the other side, it would have improved the image quite a lot.
In my opinion the crop is a little too tight, she needs IMHO some space to breathe.
When you photograph someone from the side, do it properly. There should not be anything visible from the eye on the other side. Personally I would have preferred if she would be looking at the left side of the image instead of downwards.
"She's standing squared off to the camera, which is generally not a flattering position. She's pretty skinny so it's not as much of an issue as it could be, but I think it would look better if her body was rotated to her right." Thta is quite remarkable, usually I agree with Ryan, but this time I don't. Thanks to her "skinnyness" (does that word exist?) this is one of the rare opportunities to have someone standing squared off to the camera.
The background seems, like the whole image, a little too dark to me, but this monitor hasnot been calibrated, so I cannot judge this properly. I love the background however, especially if it is somewhat lighter. Well chosen!
All in all, an image that has potential, although it leaves some things to be wished to be improved. Go on on this path, it might bring the opportunity to create an own, unusual, style.
