cross process/sepia
« on: July 16, 2008, 11:00:09 AM »
So, I am in the middle of editing hell, I have two sessions I need done fast, and I was getting burned out so I am taking a little time to play.  I did this by doing a cross process thing in curves, got rid of the magenta cast, then created another layer and did a sepia thing and then dropped the opacity and flattened.  I think I like it....

Hmm, I like them both.

Go into Curves and then up at the top there is a menu of presets, Cross Process should be in there if you have CS3.
I think the cross processing look is a little jarring to look at by it's self, that's why I tried softening it with a sepia layer.
I think you'll like using it though with your urban/industrial stuff, it's got a cool funky look.

open the first one and look at the curves. if there is any air between the left edge of the square and the histogram drag it to the right a bit. You may have to drag the new line up to center in the middle if the midtones are too dark. If my thinking is right it'll pop more.

I too like them both.

I like the processed one better.
But I favor that look generally.

Ha ha!
I did boycott it for most of my life, but in the last few years Ive let it creep in here and there.
Infact, my wallet is hot pink. So there.

I'm not familiar with cross processing as to why I haven't said anything.

Interesting, I'll have a look in CS3, TFS

Pink is my favourite colour by far, well, I like red too, but not those two together, lol.

Mike, Robert W. does cross processing frequently.  It's kinda trendy right now, for some reason.

Still using CS2. No joy for me.

You should be able to do the same, it's just the curves aren't built in.  A little Googling should point you in the direction of an action that'll do it for you.

Yeah, sorry, I don't know how to do it without a preset.
