Wacom Intuos vs Bamboo
« on: April 22, 2011, 02:24:07 PM »
I've got a knockoff tablet - Adesso - that appears to have given up. Never was great, although now that I've started using an Intous4 at work I know how not great it actually was. So another tablet is now sitting on my wish list.

Anyone out there used both the Intuos and the Bamboo that could compare the two. I know the sensitivity levels are different, but I don't know that I'd ever notice the difference. The one I'm leaning towards is the wireless Intous just so I don't have to deal with another cord.

I have a bamboo and haven't used it too much but from what I have done I really like it.  Wireless would be great.

The bamboo is an entry level tablet. The Intuos is the top end tablet.

Dragging up an old thread, but I think I've just about got myself talked in to the wireless medium Intuos 4. Only thing I'm a bit concerned about is a potential lag between bluetooth and the wired version. Would hate to spend the extra on a wireless only to keep it wired because of lag.

My 2-year-old discovered my Adesso tablet this morning and I'm thinking about moving it to the living room so she can draw on the TV

I would suspect there is lag but weather you notice it is the question.
my big question is where does your tablet sit, and how often do you move it? (or why do you need wireless?) [grin]

The Adesso sits in a drawer which is a bit off-center from my main monitor. Not bad, but not ideal. Actually would probably be a really good spot if I was left handed. Wacom would probably be in the same place, at least to charge. But it would be nice to be able to have it on my desk without worrying about cords. Keyboard and mouse are also wireless. Probably my biggest irritation with the Adesso is that the cord is not detachable from the table to make it easier to move.

Biggest one though would be at work. I've got a small Intuos4 on my desk, but Bluetooth would let me walk around while I'm talking to my students.

That, and I'm a bit spoiled by the Intuos4 at work and the Adesso just doesn't feel the same

I've been Googling for most of the morning and most of the reports of lag I'm finding are related to either the initial pairing or are blamed on the Bluetooth on the computer, not on the Wacom.

eta...

Also miss the express keys on the intuos. Adesso has something similar, but having the ability to program the keys and have specific settings per application is something I miss. I jump around between Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, and Blender quite a bit.
