Book
« on: August 04, 2011, 04:49:54 PM »
Hey, guys. Long time no see. I will probably start posting around more often soon... Got over 200 photographs on my deviantART gallery and even more in my FaceBook gallery... Haven't been able to get a decent website set up yet but I'm planning some things out.

Anyway, on the subject...

When I logged into my FlickR account, someone had emailed me from a month ago... Saying they wanted to put my "Blind Rage" photograph of Storm into their book which would only be published in Ireland. They were going to make 1,500 copies of the same photograph.

I said no... Didn't feel like it was true mainly because the guy said he wasn't going to pay me. I understand we are all struggling with finance and the economy's so bad it's not funny, but for someone to just use my picture 1,500 times without me getting any money just didn't sound right. Did I make the right choice?

Presumably they're planning on making money from the book, so yes, I think you made the right call.

You should make sure they didn't go ahead and use it anyway. And, yes, good call.

I'll be keeping an eye out for the book... What do I do if it's in the book?

In the case of something published in a hard format like that, I'd say it's worth getting a lawyer to look at it first. Since it's in Ireland you may have to get one over there, or get the case tried here if it goes that far.
