Anybody an audio geek? I'm looking for a pair of headphones to wear while I'm working on the computer to try and drown out distracting noises. Right now I wear a set of earbuds, but I can still hear the family watching TV in the room so they're not quite enough.

On the other side, I don't know anything about around the ear type headphones. And it'd be tough to tell how they'd feel after a few hours on from just trying them on in a store.

I have some skullcandy noise cancelling ear buds that I use at work. Replaces earplugs around noisy equipment pretty well. They aren't anything fancy and I bought them at Target.

Since my husband used to work at Bose, we have the Bose QC2s and I've worn them on a plane many times. I can't wear earplugs because of pressure issues, so I love these headphones. The QC3s are $280-350. I like that they're light enough that I don't really feel them after a while. You can also plug them into any audio port and get really nice sound. (QC=Quiet Comfort)

I would recommend anything that says "noise canceling" and is name brand.
skull candy is really good but can't compete with bose or AR or infinity

personally i cant tell the difference (too much rock music in the 70s) and would buy skull candy
