If I did more shooting of small stuff, or where I needed access to a notebook at the same time I was shooting, this laptop stand be on my todo list.

See the attachment, but the basics are you take a laptop stand like this one and mount it to a tripod. For about 30 bucks, plus the tripod, you have a notebook mount that's pretty easily accessible.
