Fall - Assignment for September

For September, go out and shoot something "fall." Whichever version of fall you want - the autumn season, falling down, or whatever.

Fall, to me, means the start of the annual vulture migration!

That's two different birds? Very cool how in sync they are. And I didn't know that vultures migrated. Always figured they just circled looking for food.

Yup, two different birds, both soaring together. :) The back one is showing some molting changes.

It's also the start of the fall Monarch migration to Pismo Beach.

300mm handheld, straight out of camera except a very mild crop.

Must have missed this one first time around...

300mm handheld
Not that the shot isn't really good, but this is what stuck out most. I've never been all that happy using my 70-210 without a monopod. Just can't get the images as sharp as I'd like. Amazed that you were able to hand hold a 300mm and get that sharp of a shot.

Dig the depth of field. (Reminds self to get the EXIF plugin working again...).  I don't think it would be nearly as good of a shot without the blur in the background. Not too sure about the blur on the bottom of his (?) wing though. Makes for depth, but is also a bit distracting. Not like "hey, look here first" distracting, but a bit noticeable. Although it also gives depth. So not sure...

Great colors for a fall theme
