Katie

Sometimes you just get lucky.  We had done several shots on this bench with one background and I wanted to continue with it but with a different background, so I told Katie to relax while I rolled down a new background.  When I returned to the camera, she was doing something very similar to this pose, so I just refined it a bit, lit her and she loves it!

I see why she likes it.  It's very pretty and shows off her long hair.

why did you use the bench after all? I would have liked her more just standing and for exampling moving her head around.

why did you use the bench after all? The upper-arm attract to much attention. If she had covered arms with long sleefs the result would have been better.

With long hair I would have liked her more just standing and for exampling moving her head around.

I make suggestions as to what to bring along as far as clothing.  They bring what they already have and wear what they like, so I photograph them in what they brough, not what I wish they would have brought.  The bench allows her to lean causing the hair to flow down.  Had she been standing it would just hang there.

That is reality and what I struggle with the most with seniors and families.

I'm sure I gave the photographer a few more gray hairs when I showed up for my senior photos. I had gotten into civil war reenacting a couple years before and showed up at his studio door with an arm full of uniform pieces and guns.

I was the only guy in the yearbook to have a gun. Big Grin
Of course this was a year before Columbine. I doubt a school would let anyone submit something like that now.

Sarcasm, frustrating the clueless since 3000 b.c.

I'm not sure if it's the way this image looks on your monitor, but the couch on my monitor looks like a big black blob. I can see the little metal piece and a couple of curved highlights, but that's it. I would much more prefer to see more definition in the couch, so it doesn't look like she's hanging onto a black hole. Smiley

Also, in most portraits by you, your catchlights look too bright, like they've been added in post processing. While this is fine if it works for you, it makes it harder for me to understand where your light is coming from. Smiley

Speaking of guns, I remember when I was in the 8th grade (1962) we were studying World War II.  The teacher, Mr. Brubaker, was a WWII vet and when I told him my Dad had an M 1 Garand (the main rifle used during that conflict) he asked me to bring it to class the next day so the other students could see it.  The next morning I boarded the school bus with it slung on my back.  The driver said "ya must be studying World War II huh?  I said yes and took my seat.  At school I walked right down the hall up the stairs and handed Mr. B the rifle. No one said a word to me.  Today I would be arrested.
