I am to order "Lightroom", so whenever I have questions sending a few beers will do?

Hey Stewart. Thanks for posting this. I have had a lot of photographers ask me if Lightroom galleries will fit in to my phpCrazySite as smoothly as SimpleViewer does. Many galleries have fixed sizes and so while they work, are not totally fluid. By the looks of it, Lightroom Galleries are. Now I know what they look like and what those photographers are talking about.

Just to see, I put your link above into one of my test sites (I'll be taking it off) and it works great - - - which is good. Wondering if you would provide me with a gallery of yours and let me use it or link to it so that I can put one permanently into a sample site to show my 75 registered CrazySite users that it does embed well (being I don't have Lightroom)?

Another Question - - - can the header be removed so that just a Gallery is produced for embedding into a page that already has the logo and header?

To maximize the display size of the Gallery images this would need to be the case - like SimpleViewer. The display area of the CrazySite is 420 pixels high by 740 pixels wide. If you can provide me with either a folder that I can put on my web space - or a link if you want it kept that way  - - - that would fit that display size better by not having the header - - - that would be awesome. Of course you would leave a link to your website on the page somewhere so we all know who it is from. Even if you can't do that though, I would really appreciate having access to the galley you have made here if you are planning on keeping it on line so I don't end up with a dead display page in the future.

I will have a play with removing the header and send you the files for it that way you can have a play about as well so it fits and you then have it for as long as you want it.

cheers and beers

Stew - - - you are the best.

(a moment of being sentimental - although not regretful) While I valued all of my moderators on my PPF forum - - - I have to tell you that you were such a breath of fresh air and made me laugh so many times when I was feeling dumpy and would read your posts. Don't ever let that disappear!  I was proud of having you as one of my moderators there.  So glad you have found a venu to express yourself at this forum and that you are a "value added" part of the running of it.

I would like to second all of Rob's comments about Stew!  The only trouble with having him as a moderator here has been that he keeps coming up with great ideas to improve the site and we have to take the time to figure out how to implement them!

Looks very cool.  Hubby is wanting this, but I'm not sure I'm up to learing another new program.  Is it difficult?

Cindy,

I can't speak to Lightroom directly, but after 25 years in the IT business I can say that the more programs you learn, the easier it is to pick up new ones.  For the most part these days, I pick up just about any piece of software pretty quickly.

In other words, I wouldn't let that concern hold you up!

Cindy,

Take all you know about nasty horrible programs and throw it out the window, Adobe have done the best thing they can and made a program that makes sense and has everything where you want it!

Some great features are that you can store thumbnails of your images on the libary and then keep the originals on a CD somewhere else, how great is that having a libary of images that dont take up valuable disc space! To make a gallery a couple of clicks and you are uploading it direct to your website from the program! Make a slideshow, build a contact sheet the way you want it in the order you want it! In fact Adobe if you want to send me lightroom 2.0 when it comes out I will keep on saying how great 1.0 is lol

Rob, Ed F and Mike Thanks I'm of to blush lol

Cheers and Beers

I do always worry about giving you a swelled head!

But, maybe Adobe does owe you something.  I wasn't going to spring for it, figuring that I can do everything it does with the software that I have gathered already . . . but I am pretty sure that I will be a buyer!

I am that amazed if I hadnt of already bought CS2 I wouldn't. I am now going to take CS2 of my computer and go back to Photoshop 7 and lightroom as I cant see any advantage of having the memory whore they call CS2 on the computer when Lightroom allows you to apply the Raw changes to any format!! as well as quick cloning, plus the great thing as well is the original image isnt altered when you change the exposure etc, it just stores it away for you!
