More Sunny Wedding Pics

I thought I would share more from the wedding we recently shot with the hard lighting (I haven't edited the whole wedding yet, I have a bunch of other shoots on my plate right now).  Comments and critique are welcome of course.  This was honestly one the trickiest weddings I have had yet.

Ok, so in some places the light was beautiful...

Details.  I used a scrim to shade some of them.

Playing with actions.  These girls were so cute!  You can't see it, I am on the wrong side, but they found a bug while waiting for the procession to start.  By the time I ran around to the other side the moment was over.

Only one flower girl made it to the end and when she got there she just stood in one spot and dropped her petals by the handful until her basket was empty, then she just stood there until the Bishop (the LDS leader officiating the ceremony) walked her over to where she was supposed to go.
Check out the lighting, yikes, we did our best (I hope).

OOOH I should note, half the pictures were taken by me (D80) the other half were my husband's shots (D90).  I can never tell them apart once they are uploaded and organized chronologically.

Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.

You didnt blow out the background! Nice!  Big Grin
I underexposed a bit and then lightened the shadows in PS.  Although I am becoming increasingly tolerant of blown out skies, as long as the subject is exposed right.  Blown wedding dresses are a different story.

Does that first image look green to anyone else?  I mean his face, not the leaves.  He looks like he is sick.  When I get into editing mode weird color shifts start looking normal.
This one was tough because under the walkway the lighting was green because of the canopy of leaves with lighting filtering through, in the shade of the big pine trees it was blue and then their reception was under a covered pavillion and it was brown so everything had a red cast.

Yes it does, maybe a slight push on the magenta, I like unexpected action, nice expression on the bride.
That's a silver tie? if so, push the magenta and erase for the skin, just an idea.
Another which I tried was a gray point setting in raw, however, the skin was green, BUT, the tie was a silver gray, then I played with just the magenta slider for the skin and erased back everything but the skin which looked fine, it's pretty fast, but, I know this needs to be for batch, sorry, I'll try something else.

The tie is lavendar!  Not silver.  Which makes me think it does need more magenta.
I wish I could have batch color corrected these, but since people were moving in and out from under the green canopy and shade and full sun they are all different.  I set my WB to auto, but of course it gets fooled easily.

I like unexpected action, nice expression on the bride.

I like unexpected action or expressions too but sometimes they are caught mid-moment and are unflattering.  So they are hit or miss.
The overall picture is of the mom taking a picture of the bride and her father.  It's funny how we all have a tendency to like different things.
At almost every wedding I try and get pictures of people taking pictures, it's part of the story.  I love getting behind the person with the camera and shooting over their shoulder so it's a picture of a person taking a picture and then in the background is their subject, but they are my subject.  Anyway, everyone seems to like them, like I said, they are part of the story, everyone brings their cameras to weddings and instead of fighting with them for the shot... I shoot them.

Lavender, well, that will do it, just magenta, it will look great.

I like the reportage, but, not too many like the "Unclassical" I have one in Sept, they said no "Posing Us" we want fun images. I'm looking forward to that.
Plus, I'm hoping if the other couple want me for their scheduled Aug 4th, I'm hoping it is reportage also. Easy part though, "shoot and burn" that will be nice.

You know... I am not as good at the informal pictures as I am the posed ones.  I know why, I hate bothering people when they are talking or whatever... My husband is better at it, but he shoots with a longer lens.  He is more sneaky.

Mike, I can't wait to see what you come away with at this wedding where they want fun pictures.

I will certainly post some, could be mid aug if I get the one, most certainly the one in Sept, he has a classic car as well, one other reason i'm looking forward to it.
