Movie Poster Assignment

One of our last few assignments was a Movie Poster, it could have been a copy or a made up one.
Most went the copy route. I chose a fantasy made up poster.

I decided to keep it subdued, not overly exposed, I felt I achieved it with this one.

Wow Mike, I think you did an awesome job.  I really like the lighting on the girl with the knife thingy.  I would say your models involved in the sword fight need some acting lessons, they looked posed, but it's not horrible.
Good job overall,  Clapping

It seems like at school you get a lot of neat opportunities.  I miss school for that.  My sister goes to an art institute and is in fashion design.  She is preparing for the big yearly fashion show.  The production students do the music and lighting and the whole production of the thing.  The cosmotology students do the hair and makeup for the models.  The modeling talent does come from an agency though.  But it's mostly student run.

I love how you lightened her eye through the hole in the sword in the first picture!

The one on the right, Ashley, who played the villain, did an awesome job during the shoot, I feel she executed her part well.
Kristine, was the "Model" who did o.k. but, looks too posed. However, overall, I'm pleased about what they had to offer.

Ashley is a first year student in the photography program and is experienced in Drama.

I will be doing another similar style shoot with Ashley, however, the Model, will be an international model who is also a first year student in the photography program. She also has creative ideas, plus, obviously well experienced in posing, so, there should be a greater improvement.

Thanks for the encouragement and compliments.   Big Grin

Overall the posing makes me like the second one much better.  The sword is upside down. [grin]

Technically the shots are dead on.

We purposely showed it that way, if aimed directly at the neck, we would have lost the blade, all we would have appeared would be the back edge.

I understand your comment, but the blade is 180º off. its a curved blade, anyone that would go to that movie would notice.

One thing photographing sci-fi conventions has taught me is these people know more about the background of the setting than the actors did.

Either way, I like the idea and agree the "looking through the blade" is stellar.

In my opinion, a "model" has a much harder job than an actress. The actress has the entire scene to get her point across, the model has to do it in one frame.

The feeling you get when that one frame nails the story is why we work so hard at the tiny details.

Hahahha...I wanted to comment about the position of the sword, too, but didn't want to come off looking like a total geek. Glad Bob has more guts than I...
