Moving Photoshop

Because of my RAM issues, I'd like to delete Photoshop CS2 from one computer and put it on the new computer we bought last year for the art gallery (it has 1gig RAM). But I can't figure out where the registration key is stored. I downloaded CS2 originally, so there's no box or documentation. Anyone know where the registration key is located?

Well, I couldn't say for sure in CS2, but in CS3 if you go to Help>SystemInfo, it will open a window that will have your registered serial number in it.  It's about 12 lines down.

Ack. So, I go to download CS2 again, and there is no such download anymore, at least I can't find one. It's all CS3! So, if I want to switch to a new computer, now I have to pay for CS3, too?! Sad

You didn't have your original download file backed up?!

OH, I'm so sorry I didn't think to mention that to you.  Whenever you are doing something major like this, you need to either save your download files to an external drive or know you have the CD(s).  Either way, I would be for contacting Adobe and explaining to them what has happened.  As long as you have a valid license number they should be able to work with you, I'd think.  Had you registered your software?  If so, they will be even more likely to help.

Edit:  Maybe I misunderstood.  Did you delete it already from your other computer?  Do you know where your default folder is that you normally would save online downloaded software?

I found my download, yay!!!!!

I see on Adobe's site that I will need the serial number (that HUGE LONG number that shows below my business name on the "About Photoshop" screen) and the activation number, which I cannot find anywhere and nothing on their site tells me where to find it. Arghghg.

Can you give me a link to where it asks for the serial number and the activation number?  All my registered products only have a serial number, I think... Interesting.

Will you be able to install again now that you found the download file?

I hope that's the case.

Everything's up and running! All I needed was the serial number and everything went smooth as silk, including the reactivation process. The new computer came with tons of unnecessary programs, which took me about an hour to delete, plus I turned off a lot of annoying things running in the background. The mouse also was squeeky, so I replaced it with my old one which isn't made out of such cheap plasic. Tongue The reinstall of the Epson 4800 driver went easier than last time, too. Yay!! This new computer also comes with ports for all kinds of memory cards built into the tower. I can't wait to try that out. Grin

Sweet!  I'm glad it's all working out for you.  I have the memory card slots in my tower, too.  I really like them.

I have the memory card slots too, only one of them doesn't seem to work, I had to get an adapter, but the kind of card my Nikon uses works great.

My tower has card readers, but they're hooked up via a USB 1 connection so they're really slow.  I went out and bought a card reader, skipping over USB2 and going for firewire.
