Need some opinions

I'm just about ready to switch my site over to a new design.  The current one is http://heavenlyimagesphotography.com which I really don't like at all.

The new design is at http://mockup.heavenlyimagesphotography.com

I like the bar acros the top that works like a retail site with the Home >> Resources >> FAQs >>  etc.  I think it makes it very easy to navigate and get back where you want to be.  However, if it builds long enough (like with larger words) it runs over the links that come up under the menu bar.  There needs to be more space or something.  Also, on your contact page the 'Session Type' flows behind the menu box.  On the home page, if you want to use as large of images as you are (which I think is good), then you can just have the slideshow run on center.  I didn't like it moving around on the screen and I think it's unnecessary.

Other than those things, I really like the layout, the colors, and the navigation.  It works well and looks good.

I included a screenshot of what I got trying to pull it up.  The links are barely visible and there is one image that won't load.  Might be my computer or browser???

Probably browser.  When MS pushed out the IE7 upgrade I lost my copy of IE6 so I haven't been able to test in it.  I'll have to do some digging.

Thanks for looking.  I guess I'm not as close to being done as I thought I was.

I found a standalone version of IE6 and the good news, I guess, is that it looks the same as it does on your screen.

If anybody else is looking to have both IE6 and IE7 on their computer - http://browsers.evolt.org/download.php?/ie/32bit/standalone/ie6eolas_nt.zip

I have IE6 and there seems to be a couple of things I found:
1) like Ginny I get that same picture thing that seems to not load.  However if you wait for the next images to cycle through it isn't there.
2) The bottom link bar doesn't stay at the bottom.  It stays at the initial height and sometimes blocks links.
3) The wedding portfolio and the detail portfolio did not open.
4) The pictures that were cycling through had a timing issue to them.  One would load and then immediately change to the next image.

Well, here's what's supposed to be happening.

Most of the pages have some type of slideshow on them.  Each slideshow is two images which sort of explains the missing image y'all are seeing.  One should be visible, the other stays hidden and loads the next image, the first fades out for half a second, and then the new image fades in.  And it cycles.

The two portfolios that appear broken in IE6 are both using similar fading methods, but it's throwing an error.

Looks like I found my Sunday project...

Don't Chimp on resolution, images are compressed WAY too much. Nothing worst then looking at pixelated images, you strive for quality when working, well then, do the same on your site, give quality images to view.

Sorry for the boot in the pants.  *Shifty eyes*

 Big Grin

I do like what you are creating for your site, it's easy on the eyes.

Yikes! The pixelization on some of them is really strong. Are these being shown randomly, or is there supposed to be an order? The reason I ask is that there are a couple of images that don't show up in one rotation and then show up the next time I look (the flower girl dancing with the older guy in the grass, for example).

As Susie said, the light green on darker green text is barely visible on my screen, too.

The disolve between photos is sporadic, sometimes only leaving one up for a microsecond and then loading the other immediately. This is even more apparent on the pages with the smaller slideshow.

Should you perhaps put the locations you serve on the main page, too?

Your bottom link bar is stuck in the middle of the page on the Wedding Photography pricing page!

The Portfolio pages don't load at all for me. All I see is a little scroll bar at the top left of the screen.

"Vendors that we have worked with" should be "Vendors with whom we have worked" or "Recommended Vendors."

Eek...don't mean to sound so nitpicky. Smiley

Feel free to nitpick.  That's why I posted Cheesy Grin

There are some pretty significant issues with IE6 that I've got to work around.  Pretty much everything you listed, aside from the grammar problem and pixelization, is specific to IE6.

For the time being I think the mockup is going to disappear for a little while until I have a chance to get some of this stuff sorted.
