Network Question.

I'm getting tired of the dial up hell at home. There's no broadband land lines available here for some strange reason. My mother is looking at getting a laptop for a side business she's starting for when she retires next year and wanted to get mobile access on it. I thought that might be a good idea to solve the problem at home until I noticed the 5mb a month price structure. That's not going to work for home use. I had thought that she would be able to get rid of her dial-up too, but it would be too limiting.

So I looked a satelite again. It just doesn't have enough bang for the buck at an affordable price for me. Until I thought about the fact that we have three family housholds relativley close to each other. Perhaps we could network all of them together on one satelite link and split the bill. A 1600kbs/250kbs link would split to less than $27/month per household. There would only be three to four computers on this network and two of those would see pretty light usage from my mother and aunt. My aunt and I already do this for the satelite TV service and it works out well.

My aunts house is right next door so that's easy enough. But my parents house is a quarter of a mile away on the other end of the property. That's a bit more than a simple wireless router will do. Any thoughts on how to hook all these together without breaking the bank?
