New Bridals

Pages [1] 2
I just refreshed my bridal gallery.  I added a couple, took off a few older ones and re-edited a few that have had little things that have bugged me.

Will you guys please take a look and tell me what you think?  Do I have enough up, too many?  Are there any that should be taken off?  Try and look at it with non-photographer eyes.  I know some images (like one where I cut off her wrist) aren't technically perfect, but I am leaving up those that seem to get a lot of comments from customers.

I thought it looked great! If I was looking for a photographer, those are exactly what I would look for. As for the amount, I've seen so many different websites with different amounts of pictures that I don't think there is a right or wrong for how many to put up.

I attached the 2 (as long as they worked) that I liked the best. With all the websites that I've looked at, these are two things that I've never seen anyone else do and I love it! (Laying in the grass, and on the dress). Sorry for attaching them, I just didn't know how else to specify which ones I was talking about.

Your album shows something most don't, more than one or two brides.

Lots of images but I don't think there are too many.

Lauren made a good point, if a bride loves a shot and wants you to do that shot of her, how does she identify it?

This is the second one I was talking about...I didn't even realize it didn't show up before.

I think your gallery is wonderful. You have the photos numbered...but not in order...for instance; 1045a_10 or something and some 47. Is there a way to re number them so brides can say; "this pose"...or don't they even ask for specific poses?

Thanks for the feedback guys.  Lauren that first pose you posted is my favorite too.  But funny enough I don't love the second image.  I like the pose but don't feel I have mastered it.  The image just isn't perfect technically and so I debated about putting it up.  I am glad I did then.

I do get asked for specific poses, but usually at the photoshoot, so if someone said "I want pose 47" I wouldn't know what they were talking about.  But they usually describe it like this "I saw one on your website where a girl was laying in the grass" or "Can we do the laying down pose on the dress with the rose petals scattered around?".
That first one in that location (with the river behind it) is the most requested.

I guess it hasn't been a problem because we do a consultation and we pull up the website to look at locations and sometimes brides will point out what they like.

I honestly get a little nervous about re-creating poses because I worry they won't turn out as well as the original, I shoot on location so the light is always different, the dress is different and the bride is different.

I am glad you said that.  There are some brides that are on my site a lot.

could you not put in a strategic place "and your photo might be featured on my web site!!!"

What do you mean?  I have a model release built into my contract.  I was just concerned that it appeared I had a couple girls on my site a lot...  I guess I don't know why it matters.

A perk, not only did she get Charles Bernard Photography to shoot her wedding, one of her photos made the second page of their gallery!!  *shifty glance*

Have you tried shooting it at a different angle (like she is coming up from the bottom instead of down from the top)?

Yeah, and I think that looks weirder, like she is leaning against a wall, rather than lying down.  I like the upside down thing, and I am doing better with it.  Some people look puffy in the face when they lay down and I have to think in different angles when planning lighting.  This one was actually quite dark it was our last pose in the park and I had to bump up the ISO so it's a bit grainy.  You can't tell from the small image on the website.  I also don't love the lighting on her face...

She looks like she's doing the splits on the wall! Grin

I looked through the Wedding section, too. I think that the following picture doesn't have your trademark look to it:

Is it an older picture?

You should hire yourself out to the local bakeries. You make all the food look sooooooooooooooooooo yummy!!!! Smiley

Oops...get rid of this one, it's blurry:

Honest enough?  Wink

Yay for honesty!

Splits:  Yeah, I know, but that pose on that bridge is popular around here.  What can you do?

The picture you are saying isn't my style isn't too old, about a year and a half ago.  Funny you say I have a style.  I was talking to Travis one day and I said "I don't have a style".  I definitely am turned off by classic (old fashioned looking) stuff.  I am not a lace and doily person at all.  But I don't feel like I have a style and honestly half the pictures on my website are taken by my husband, but I can't tell who took what, unless I look at the exif data, because I prefer one camera over another, but even then I can't remember.  Weird huh?  But anyway, do you think I should lose the picture?

Blurry picture - I'll take it off, it's not blurry, it's high ISO, I don't think the noise compressed well, or something...

Wow thanks!  I would if I knew how to market it.  I wonder if that sort of photography pays well.  I don't have the actual equipment to do it for real though.

Oh and my wedding gallery will be worked on next.

I really need to sell more engagement sessions to cute website worthy couples (that was rude, sorry).  That way I can update that section.  It's the type of session we do the least of.  Everyone has an uncle with a camera they trust enough to do them, because if they don't turn out they can retake, then they hire pros for the weddings, and here in Utah the bridals are almost more important than the wedding Smiley
