I didn't sharpen or do any of that stuff on the text... I put the edited, resized, and sharpened image into the file.  But it's a good tip.  Another thing I learned the hard way a long time ago was to save everything in layers, in case you need to change a piece of text or something.

"I put the edited, resized and sharpened image into the file."

Question, did you sharpen it with the text after resizing
Logged

Mike - nope.  I created a blank file then resized the image of the girl to be the same width, sharpened it then dropped it into the blank file and added text on top.  I think the anti-alias thing fixed it.  Take a look at the website, that's the latest version.  It's smoother.

I like how the squiggly decoration is tickling the bottom of her foot. Smiley

Excellent fix up, I like the the corners, but, no, don't like the graphic touching the foot.  Wink

Does look classy

What?  Am I too tired to know what you are talking about?

I will fix the graphic touching her foot...  I am tired.  I have been editing pictures for two days straight and I have a senior session tonight, a wedding tomorrow, a wedding the next day.  I wanted to take pictures of my daughter in her new Easter dress, but like always, family comes last...

Wow I sound like a big complainer.  Smiley

alright, I got rid of the gold and did pink instead.  It's more my style.

It's funny when I do stuff like this.  I have something in my head but not fully formulated, so when I start putting it together it always turns out completely different than what I mentally pictured.

I originally was going for something with a diluted punk look with a bit of an edge but still girly... if that makes sense...  I got closer with this.

If you want to take a look I put the link in my signiture line, it's the Definition Images one.

Found a few HTML problems in the 2nd draft page.

There are several tags that don't close.  You don't close the <head>, <body>, or <html> tags.  There's also a <font>, <p>, and <center> tag left open.

Both your frameset page and the /di/index.html page have a mix of HTML and XHTML.  The /di/index.html doesn't specify a DOCTYPE but I'm guessing that you're trying for normal HTML.  The <meta name="MSSmartTagsPreventParsing" content="TRUE" /> shouldn't have the /> at the end and just be ...TRUE">  You have a similar issue on the frameset page with the two <frame...> tags.  They both end in /> and should end with just >  The frameset page has a DOCTYPE for HTML 4.01 strict, but should have a frameset DOCTYPE.

Take a look at http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http://www.charlesbarnardphotography.com/di/index.html to see some of the problems.

um thanks Ryan, but honestly that site you linked to didn't really make any sense.  All I got from it was that my code is messy....
I closed some of my tags, I understood what that meant, although I guess I don't understand why it's important...
I don't understand the DOCTYPE thing at all.  I specified that it was "html" at the top (is that not what that means?).

Ryan I sent you a message about the forwarding thing, but I will answer you questions here.  That way if someone happens to wonder the same thing (slim chance probably) it will be answered here.

I use godaddy.com for hosting.  I have hosting on my main site.  I can't just use that hosting space for another domain as far as I can tell.  I would really rather not have to buy more hosting so I just set up www.definitionimages.com to forward automatically to www.charlesbarnardphotography.com/di/index.html
My question is really whether or not that is a problem.  I marked that it would be a permanent forward, although I guess some search engines will still recognize it as temporary (if that matters).

Let me tell you my ultimate goal.  When someone goes to Google and searches for "boudoir photography in Utah" I want my site to be found.  I don't have many competitors, or at least those with an internet presence.  I don't want the whole forwarding thing to get in the way of that goal.  If I have to spend a measly $4 a month for more hosting I will do it.  But I don't want to if it doesn't matter.

I would say spend the 4 bucks.  Looking at the return headers from definitionimages.com it's returning a temporary redirect code which is not what you want.  The location it's redirecting to is ?45aa5ed0 which I assume has something to do with how GoDaddy handles redirects.  I can't be positive, but something in that seems messy and not worth the 4 bucks to take the risk.

ok, I will set up hosting for this domain.

I feel cheap considering not paying $4 a month.  The company I work for is getting bids to re-do their website and it looks like it will be about $32,000 to build!  Although they do want something a bit complex.  I just want people to call me and pay me to take their picture Smiley

First of all, very cool website...Maybe with lots of reading etc I'll eventually get there?!!

Coming from a web  illiterate... the scrolling thing on the left hand side of the page is all my eye wants to look at as I'm viewing. Perhaps this is what you want someone to look at first(?) as it has contact info in it.

It's one of my pet peeves and I'm weird in that way..just like I turn down the music when I click on one that's got music blasting away.
