Notebooks, springtime, and glare

Anyone out there got a good trick for making notebooks easier to see in the sun? With the weather drawing my daughter outside to play, I'd like to be able to have my notebook with me. But unless it's either right after the sun comes up or right before it goes down the brightness makes it really hard to see the screen.

Get one of those shrouds professional photographers used to use, LOL!!

I use one of those car window shade things (they are supposed to keep the sun off baby, I think). I'm usually in the car and just "block" the window the light is coming in. The cool thing is you can see through it.
