Pacific Madrona

This is one of my favorite trees. It has an orange bark that peels away to reveal a bright green trunk. I'm trying to find one in an area where I can photograph it against a blue sky, but so far no luck.

I love this tree too.  Great colors and balance.  The foreground and rocks give just the right amount of weight for the crop, I think.

This is one instance where I think the landscape should have less depth of field, however.  I think there would be less distraction if the background were blurry.  Also, maybe a lower camera angle so there was just a sliver of water, then the green line of trees behind the trunk and main limbs, and the dramatic sky behind the leaves to give them some more separation and drama.

It is a beautiful tree for sure.

Thanks, Travis. Since it's only 3 minutes from my house, I can go back and reshoot. Smiley

Could you gat a much lower angle to shoot it from? Then you might get more sky.
